A piece with a history dating back to January 1998 when I was experimenting with an autofilter within a feedback loop on a 4-track cassette recorder, using its unpredictable results as the basis for a piece which fused a Yamaha synth with vocoder processing. A decade later the piece was transferred to digital workstation and remixed before my friend Victoria Bourne improvised vocals at her studio in the summer of 2009. Further vocal treatments and electroacoustic soundscaping were added to complete the piece.
An alternate version of 'The Duality Shroud' appears as the third of the four conjoined movements which constitute my electroacoustic piece 'Birdbrain'.
